Compliance Engine Terms

Last updated: November 5, 2026

These terms cover your use of the GoLegally Compliance Engine, run by Vadavision Private Limited, trading as GoLegally ("we", "us"). By using it you agree to them. Our general terms also apply; where the two differ for the Compliance Engine, these terms win.

1. What the Compliance Engine does

The Compliance Engine prepares and files, from your books:

  • VAT returns and Income Tax updates under Making Tax Digital
  • Corporation Tax returns
  • Companies House filings, such as accounts and confirmation statements

Your books can be kept in GoLegally's books product or imported. The Compliance Engine is software: it does not give tax, legal or accounting advice.

2. Who can use it

  • A business filing its own returns, through a person it has authorised
  • An accountancy firm filing for its clients, where the firm is authorised by each client and by HMRC as their agent

You must be 18 or over and give true details when you sign up. Keep your sign-in details safe and turn on two-step sign-in. You are responsible for what is done under your account.

3. You approve every filing

We prepare each return from the figures in your books and show it to you before anything is sent. A return is sent to HMRC or Companies House only when you approve it. By approving, you confirm that the return is correct and complete to the best of your knowledge and that you are allowed to file it.

You are responsible for the accuracy of your books and for what you file. Penalties or interest charged by HMRC or Companies House for late or wrong returns are yours, unless they are caused by a fault in our software.

4. HMRC authorisation

To file with HMRC you sign in on HMRC's own page and allow the Compliance Engine to act for you. We never see your HMRC password. HMRC's grant lasts up to 18 months; after that you sign in to HMRC again. You can remove access at any time in the Compliance Engine or in your HMRC account.

HMRC requires us to send fraud prevention data, such as device and connection details, with each call. Using the Compliance Engine means you agree to this. Our Compliance Engine privacy policy lists what is sent.

5. HMRC and Companies House services

Filing depends on HMRC's and Companies House's own systems. If they are down or reject a return, we show you their reply and help you send it again. We are not responsible for their decisions, delays or outages. File in good time before each deadline.

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • File for a business you are not authorised to act for
  • Send false information to HMRC or Companies House
  • Try to get into other users' data or our systems
  • Hide or change the fraud prevention data we collect

We may suspend an account that breaks these rules and tell HMRC where the law requires it.

7. Your data

Your books and returns stay yours. You can download them at any time. How we handle personal data is set out in the Compliance Engine privacy policy.

8. Fees

Plans and fees are shown before you buy. Any fee due is stated on your invoice. We tell you before a fee changes.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Compliance Engine available at all times but cannot promise it will never be down. We update the software when HMRC or Companies House change their rules, and we tell you about changes that affect how you file.

10. Liability

We are responsible for losses caused by our failure to provide the software with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for losses caused by wrong figures in your books, returns you approved, or the actions of HMRC or Companies House. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Ending your use

You can stop using the Compliance Engine and close your account at any time. Before closing, download any records you need. We keep filing records for as long as the privacy policy says, then delete them.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes go to the courts in Chandigarh. If you use the Compliance Engine as a consumer in the UK, you keep the rights your local law gives you and can also bring a claim in your local courts.
